Andre is passionate about transforming our healthcare system, and no one is better at figuring out innovative ways to use social media to make it happen. I am particularly grateful to have had Andre as my mentor and guide in launching my website and upping my participation on social media. He supported me, encouraged me, nagged me when I needed it and made sure that I was empowered and equipped to succeed. I highly recommend Andre as colleague, friend, and mentor.
Andre Blackman helped my team prepare a strategic social media strategy for the launch of our new initiative, the Comfort Corps. A two-year-old, nonprofit program of the McKesson Foundation that provides essential items of comfort to low-income cancer patients, Giving Comfort had already built a substantial presence on social media. My colleagues and I sought Andre’s advice to deepen engagement on our existing social media channels, publicize fundraising and volunteering opportunities for Comfort Corps members and drive traffic to the new Comfort Corps website.
As the team’s Twitter manager, my efforts benefitted from working with Andre. He aptly discussed defining objectives in building and connecting with a meaningful community, considering the individuals who would form our best audience and differentiating streams of content via our blog and social media channels. I particularly appreciated Andre’s preparation of a Twitter influencer assessment that named cancer-focused Twitter users to consider as worthy engagement partners for mutual benefit.
My team’s launch of our Comfort Corps clearly benefited from our advance work with Andre, and I do not hesitate to highly recommend Andre as a digital communication strategist in the healthcare field.
I’ve known Andre since the birth of the Health 2.0 movement. From the start, he’s been a passionate pioneer in building and leveraging the online world to improve individual person- and public-health. From patient communities to blogs and the use of film-making to tell powerful stories that inform public policy and empower personal decisions, he helps organizations committed to moving the needle on health do so. Andre’s M.O. is creative, pragmatic, and collaborative.
If you are looking for someone who can develop ideas that will transform your organization's mission into a meaningful and relevant message, then Andre is your guy. Andre is known for his innovative perspective when it comes to combining the latest communications technology with the information and tools consumers need--where they need it and when they need it. Whenever I've worked Andre, he's thinking not only of today, but also of tomorrow and the tomorrows in years to come
I’ve had the pleasure of following Andre’s work for the last two years, and as far as I’m concerned, he is “the go-to-guy” relative to public health 2.0. He’s passionate, committed, smart and well-connected. He’s a generous and open partner. And he’s one of the few people I know who’s truly willing to put all of his time and talent into a field that’s often a thankless one – helping everyone, regardless of social or economic status, to live healthier lives.
I have been working with Andre as I build my digital footprint with gastrointestinal health and wellness and public awareness through social media. He broke it down into easy to understand steps and achievable goals. He has been a great asset in building an amazing network.
